#GSATIFAMILY: STAFF IN REVIEW, ISSUE NO. 3

We at GSATi take pride in our staff and the hard work they put forth for us and our clients on a daily basis. To show our appreciation, we would like to present to you our new blog, #GSATiFamily: Staff in Review, a peek into the lives and interests of our staff. This series highlights the parts of our staff that makes them exactly who they are: dedicated, intriguing individuals we are proud to call family. Read on and discover this week’s featured staff member: Open Source Application Manager, Bill Pirkle.

DL: Go ahead and state your name and position title.

BP: My name is Bill Pirkle and I am an Open Source Application Manager.

DL: How long have you worked with GSATi?

BP: A little over two years now.

DL:  Where did you receive your education and/or experience in our field?

BP:  Well, unlike many software developers, I actually received my degree in Software Development and Computer Science from Texas A&M (Class of ’94, whoop!)

DL: How funny, and ironic I guess? What would you consider your greatest accomplishment during your time as a member of the GSATi Family?

BP: I’d have to say the thing I’m most proud of would be our core system and its back-end capabilities within the PHP/MLM websites. We as a team have managed to get a better handle on calculating and reporting within that realm of service. For instance, we managed to reduce report generation turn over from one hour to a whole twelve (12) seconds. We are also able to provide our users the ability to view multiple compensation plans at once. In the future, we plan to expand to predictive modeling, meaning our clients will be able to modify their current compensation plan in a variety of “what if” settings without making any pertinent changes. It’s a huge accomplishment for us.

DL: What’s the most fun thing you have done at or with GSATi?

BP: Our annual celebration in November is always a great time. There are several people on our team who work remotely, and so this work anniversary celebration is the perfect opportunity to get the whole GSATi family together for friends, fellowship and just an all-around good time.

DL: What about your at-home family? Any pets or kids?

BP: I have three daughters, ages 14, 11 and 9 years old. We have a horse, three dogs and eight fish. We like to stay busy with pets, it seems!

DL: What is your favorite local restaurant or business on the square that you like to visit?

BP: So many places I could choose, so I’ll give them all: LSA Burger Co. for burgers, Cartwright’s for breakfast and Rusty Tacos for the price and travel size! Five dollars for a couple of tacos you can easily take back to work is the best combination for me.

DL: What's your preference, PHP or .NET and why?

BP: Well, I definitely prefer PHP. You can read all of my reasons why on my most recent blog post on our GSATi blog page.

DL: What's your fondest office memory since you've been here?

BP: Such hard questions to answer when there are so many options to choose from! There isn’t a specific memory, but a memorable occurrence that’s passed on more than one occasion.  How things are around here when things go badly would be my fondest memory. We have a great family feel here, and even in dark times our staff finds a way to rally together and lift one another up so that we as a team can fight through difficult times and come out the other side a more successful group. I’ve always appreciated that.

DLSo why did you choose GSATi?

BP: It’s a great company culture of amazing people doing amazing stuff. The location is perfect for myself and my family so that we can stay close daily, but on a personal level as well; knowing that what we do here in this office behind our desks benefits our clients all the way to the consumers on the receiving end of a business. To be able to make a difference in peoples’ lives on a daily basis really affirms my love and appreciation for GSATi.

We are so delighted and proud to call Bill Pirkle a member of the #GSATiFamily. For staff profiles and more of what we offer here at GSATi, visit www.gsati.com and become a member of the #GSATiFamily today. Friends and clients welcome.
