DL: Name and position with GSATi?
CB: Carole Bennett, Senior Backend Developer.
DL: And how long have you worked with GSATi?
CB:October 7 will mark my 3-year anniversary with GSATi.
DL: Where did you receive your education and/or experience in our field?
CB: I’ve received all my training and experience in the software development field through job experience and self-education.
DL: What would you consider your greatest accomplishment during your time as a member of the GSATi Family?
CB: Leading our Azure migration. We’ve gained so much in terms of features, scalability and cost savings by moving to the Azure environment, and the ability to have a CI platform at our disposal has really been an excellent value-add, and better integration of our version control with our IDE has made for more efficient development.
DL: What’s the most fun thing you have done at or with GSATi?
CB: That’s a tough question to answer; there have been so many great experiences here. The GSATi culture is definitely based on people who know how to work hard, but remember to have fun in the process.
DL: What about your at-home family? Any pets or kids?
CB: I have three grown children, and six grandchildren. They’re all out on their own, so it’s just me, the hubs, and the cats; that’s plenty to keep me busy.
DL: What is your favorite local restaurant or business on the square that you like to visit?
CB: I can’t think of a restaurant on the square that isn’t awesome, but The Abbey Inn is my favorite to have a quiet meal. I’m fond of visiting Atomic Candy to pick up treats for the family (they have some of the coolest novelty items!)
DL: What's your preference, PHP or .NET and why?
CB: Well, given the recent post I wrote about .Net, I think that answer’s pretty obvious.
DL: What's your fondest office memory since you've been here?
CB: A couple of years ago, a tornado was sighted down the street from our building, and everyone took shelter in the basement conference room. Since we weren’t going anywhere, wine, cheese and crackers were brought out, and we had a tornado-shelter party!
DL: Why choose GSATi?
CB: GSATi has a very loyal, family-oriented culture; people care about each other, and believe in building relationships. It’s a supportive environment, and one that I’ve had the chance to learn and grow in. In this industry, if you don’t get to do that, you won’t be happy for long, so learning is a lifelong activity.
