We at GSATi take pride in our staff and the hard work they put forth for us and our clients on a daily basis. To show our appreciation, we would like to present to you our new blog, #GSATiFamily: Staff in Review, a peek into the lives and interests of our staff. This series highlights the parts of our staff that makes them exactly who they are: dedicated, intriguing individuals we are proud to call family. Read on and discover this week’s featured staff member: Development Operations Analyst, Maria Del Mar Moreno.

DL: Name and position with GSATi?

MM: Maria Del Mar Moreno, I think my officialtitle is Dev Ops Analyst.

DL: Haha, that'll work! How long have you worked at GSATi?

MM: About one year now.

DL: Where did you receive your education and/or experience in your field?

MM: I received my Associate's in Visual Communications and Web Web Design, as well as my B.S. in Computer Engineering from UNT.

DL: That's awesome! Another UNT alum in the family. What would you consider your greatest accomplishment during yorurtime as member of the GSATi Family?

MM: Definitely jumping into a platform I've never used before, which was Drupal. It was my first project under this software platform, so it was a little challenging. I had to translate pages into Japanese, which I have no experience in, so it was definitely difficult but worth the experience.

DL: How crazy! So what's the most fun thing you've done at or with GSATi?

MM: Our weekend trip to the lake for Father's Day weekend was pretty awesome. Phil and Cindy did a great job of making me feel like family, so I was really appreciative of that. The whole outing reminded me of my childhood when we went out on Sundays as a family to somewhere outdoors to spend time with one another. It was a really great time.

DL: I bet that was a great time! What about your at-home family? Any pets or kids?

MM: Truthfully, the GSATi family is my family here. I don't have any pets, but I enjoy volunteering at the local animal shelter whenever possible.

DL: That's so great! Tell me what your favorite local restaurant or business on the square might be? Just your favorite place(s) in Denton to visit.

MM: Definitely have to give a shoutout to Boca 31, Dix Coney Island and my most recent favorite, Guatalinda just off Locust and University.

DL: Such great places! Alright, a little more work talk. What's your preference, PHP or .NET and why?

MM: Okay, we need to compare PHP to C#. .Net is a framework that involves and IDE and so on. I can’t say why because when it comes to technology there is no better than other. What some technology, or language, lacks the other one makes up for it. I’ve worked with PHP and I liked it. There’s plenty of resources out there and since most of them are open source, it’s more likely you will find somebody with same error or question. Whereas with .Net framework is more for private projects.

DL: Gotcha! What's your fondest office memory since you've been here?

MM:Oh man, definitely the Cinco de Mayo celebration. Talk about a great office party ;).

DL: Nice! Finally, why choose GSATi?

MM: This place isn't just a corporate company looking to generate as much revenue as possible. I feel like we are all one great big family, constantly looking out for and caring for one another. We aren't a bunch of robots, we are real people connecting and working hard together towards common goals, and I really love that about GSATi. It really is an amazing place to work.
