This series highlights the parts of our staff that makes them exactly who they are: dedicated, intriguing individuals we are proud to call family. Read on and discover this week’s featured staff member: Tech Dev Lead .Net Team, Gus Medina-Reyes.

DL: Name and position with GSATi?

GMR: Gus Medina-Reyes and I am the Dev Tech Lead for the .Net Team.

DL: And how long have you worked with GSATi?

GMR: About four years and some change.

DL: Where did you receive your education and/or experience in our field?

GMR: I studied Electronics Engineering with a specialty on Digital systems and Computer Design at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana in Mexico City (1986-1991.) After I moved to the US in 1996 I studied Computer Science at idaho State University and University of Idaho. I've been working on this field since 1998. I've worked as a Graphic Designer, Web Designer, Game Designer, Webmaster, JDE consultant at IBM and Mary Kay and last, as Web Developer. I know multiple computer languages, from C/C++ to Java and .Net.

DL: Wow! You seem to know it all! What would you consider your greatest accomplishment during your time as a member of the GSATi Family?

GMR: I've designed the Web API framework for two of our customers' websites. I've also designed the approach for our reporting API for one of our other clients as well.

DL: Sounds like a pretty high mountain to climb...What accomplishments! So what’s the most fun thing you have done at or with GSATi?

GMR: Definitely our nerf gun fights in the office, especially when Seanna Nichol is in town; she's quite the competitive one and we all have a great time battling each other across the office.

DL: What about your at-home family? Any pets or kids?

GMR: I've been married for 20 years. I have two sons; one is a police officer in Houston, former Army and the second one is a student at Texas A&M, with an Army scholarship and member of the Corps of Cadets. I also have a grandchild, Owen. He's the most awesome 2 year old ever! We also have two beautiful Labs named Ace and Maya, who are actually siblings! They're always with me, keeping me company now that we're empty-nesters.

DL: What is your favorite local restaurant or business on the square that you like to visit?

GMR: It's a tie between Thai Square, Hoochie's and Weinberger's.

DL: What's your preference, PHP or .NET and why?

GMR: .Net - I've been working with the .Net full stack for almost ten years now. I've created not only web applications, but stand-alone, middle-tier and gaming applications that I could've not done with PHP in the past.

DL: Yeah, I think it's safe to assume you're a .Net person. Alright, two more questions! What's your fondest office memory since you've been here?

GMR: I really like our anniversary parties. they're like a big family reunion, where everyone on the entire GSATi team gets together. I'm able to put a face to a voice or a name that I see on a daily basis within my work, but not in person. Our team is all over the country and even the world, so I think I speak for everyone when I say that we love it when we can all come together and celebrate, communicate like the family we are.

DL: Why choose GSATi?

GMR: I've known Cindy, Carrie, Layne, Thelma and a few others for more than twelve years now. We used to work together at a previous company, which gave the great opportunity for us to grow GSATi together like a big family! I love the environment, the camaraderie, the free-spirit kind of feeling that I get everytime I'm here. We're creative, intuitive, and cutting-edge!

DL: I think you're absolutely right! Thanks for sitting down with me today.

GMR: Of course!

We are so delighted and proud to call Gus Medina-Reyes a member of the #GSATiFamily. For staff profiles and more of what we offer here at GSATi, visit www.gsati.com and become a member of the #GSATiFamily today. Friends and clients welcome.
