DL: Go ahead and state your name and position title.

BB: My name is Brittany Black and I am Book Keeper and Office Admin for GSATi.

DL: How long have you worked with GSATi?

BB: A little over a month; May 31st was my first day.

DL: That wasn’t that long ago! How cool. So where did you receive your education and/or experience in our field?

BB: I received my Associate's Degree in Business Administration from Remington College. I went there because it was quick and I was able to work full time at my position as Customer Service Representative and Administrative Assistant for Dallas-based retail shop, West Elm. The store grew from a small typical boutique storefront to a multi-million-dollar company very quickly, so I was in charge of several things at once just to help out my manager. It was a really fun time and I loved it. I learned a lot from my position as Admin Assistant, which was great because I was able to apply my degree which not many people can say they've done.

DL: Sounds like quite a journey. What would you consider your greatest accomplishment during your time as a member of the GSATi Family?

BB: Initially, the whole purpose of my position was to lighten the work load for CK and fellow Executive staff, so I think that's my greatest accomplishment here because it's my purpose: Help them so they can help others within their own jobs with much more ease than before. I'm dedicated more so to helping CK right now, but soon I'll be more available to help the whole team however I can.

DLSo why did you choose GSATi?

BB: What's funny, is that I didn't chose GSATi. GSATi chose ME. My mom works over at UNT and was really great about sending me new job opportunities and she happened upon the posting for my position here. I submitted my application that day, which also happened to be the last day of accepted applications so I was cutting it close! Anyways, CK calls me to discuss my resume and we just had a really easy, comfortable conversation with one another and seemed to hit it off professionally. She asked me to come in for an interview that next day, and now I'm here! It was a really interesting experience and I'm so glad for the opportunity to work for such an awesome company.

DL: What’s the most fun thing you have done at or with GSATi?

BB: I'd have to say stepping into my role as Event Coordinator for the office! I really enjoy event planning and crafting, so to have the opportunity to do things like coordinate the GSATi team efforts for the Alzheimer's Walk coming up October 1st has given me a lot of joy. I really enjoy it!

DL: What about your at-home family? Any pets or kids?

BB: I have an 8-year-old son whose name is Kyle, along with my boyfriend, Adam and his 12-year-old son, Elijah.

DL: Do you have any interesting facts about your family?

BB: Sure! In the Denton - Aubrey area, there are about 80 different families that live down the same road, Red Fern Road, who are all related to one another, including myself! It's a cool idea to know that all of your family can be found in one place.

DL: What is your favorite local restaurant or business on the square that you like to visit?

BB: I'd have to say that Atomic Candy is our most frequented store on the square thanks to my son, but I did used to frequent Recycled Books. They're the best place to find great, older movies that aren't sold in major stores anymore. I'm a big John Grisham fan so I was always there searching for my next copy of his works.

DL: What's your fondest office memory since you've been here?

BB: Oh this is a good one. So there used to be this Poinsettia plant in the office left over from Christmas that Cindy (Tysinger) absolutely loves. I'd been watering it for the last few weeks because it was so old and was looking a little run down. One day, Jason(Bodor) told me to just "take the Poinsettia to the dumpster on your way home and don't tell Cindy, or else it'll stay here. " So I did just that one evening and it's been gone ever since! I thought it was hilarious because I was so brand new and it was such a "covert operation."
