DL:  Name and position with GSATi?

LM: Layne Marshall, Director of Application Development

DL: How long have you worked with GSATi?

LM: Since December of 2011 so approaching 5 years

DL: Where did you receive your education and/or experience in our field?

LM: I graduated from Baylor University with a BBA in Management Information Systems.  I started working as a webmaster/web developer shortly after graduating from Baylor and have been doing web development for various companies ever since.

DL: What would you consider your greatest accomplishment during your time as a member of the GSATi Family?

LM: I have really enjoyed the opportunity to manage the development side of the creation and release of brand new systems for several of our great clients.

DL: What’s the most fun thing you have done at or with GSATi?

LM: The team building outings are always very fun.  The .NET team went bowling with the service delivery team last year and we have had a couple of scavenger hunts around the square that are always entertaining.

DL: What about your at-home family? Any pets or kids?

LM: My wife Jackie and I have 2 dogs (Ranger and Riley) and a cat (Rocky).  We evidently have a thing for names that start with R.

DL: What is your favorite local restaurant or business on the square that you like to visit?

LM: Hoochies!  The catfish po-boy is great there.

DL: What's your preference, PHP or .NET and why?

LM: .NET!  The professor for my .NET class in college was great, and my PHP developer was a bore so I obviously drifted towards .NET as my preferred framework coming out of college.  Shortly before I was about to graduate, I started searching for jobs that would give me the opportunity to get more experience coding in .NET and now I have been coding with it for the last 17 years.

DL: What's your fondest office memory since you've been here?

LM: The nerf gun wars!  The development, QA and service delivery teams have been known to go to battle to blow off some steam after a long day of work.

DL: Why choose GSATi?

LM:The people!  I had worked with many of the people from GSATi in the past and had always looked forward to looking with them again in the future.  I was happy with my position at my previous employer when I was approached by Cindy about coming to GSATi.  I was hesitant at first but I was ultimately convinced to make the change because of the people that I would be working closely with here.  Since then I have been able to gain experience in many different technologies, industries and roles.

We are so delighted and proud to call Layne Marshall a member of the #GSATiFamily. For staff profiles and more of what we offer here at GSATi, visit www.gsati.com and become a member of the #GSATiFamily today. Friends and clients welcome.
